What does a ton of rocks look like?

Palletized – Our full pallets tend to range from a 1.5 – 2 tons/pallet – With this, 1-ton would be close to half of the pallet or approximately 1-1/2 – 2′ tall.

Bulk Material – is a cone shaped pile measuring close to 3′ x 3′ x 2′.

How heavy is a one man stone? Also a half man, three man and four man?

These terms can get thrown around loosely in our industry – They generally refer to the approximate size of the boulder by measuring how many people it would take to manuever it into position by rolling/pushing/using a rock bar, not in any means lifting the boulder.

This is what we consider 1 man/2 man/3 man/4 man boulders to be:

1/2 man: weighing less than 150 lbs

1 man: 150 – 300 lbs

2 man: 300 – 1000 lbs

3 man: 1000 – 2000 lbs

4 man: 2000 – 4000 lbs

Are each one of your pallets a ton?

No – actual weights vary, most full pallets weigh between 1 1/2 – 2 tons.

Can we pick out the material we want?

Yes – we have open pallets in our retail area for customers to sort through and pick palletized materials.

For bulk material, we can set you up with tagging ribbon where you can tag the actual boulders – We generally hold onto tagged material for about  2 weeks before storage fees get involved.

Can we have small samples of stone?

Small color chips are available, we encourage you to take to ensure material looks great wherever its going to be installed.

Large sample quantities are available at a nominal cost.

What is difference between Basalt and Granite?

These are geological terms which refer to how the stone was formed. For our purpose it serves as a reference to the shape, color, and texture – both are solid stones.
